Shelter Preparation

If staying in a shelter, do not take pets, firearms or alcoholic beverages. Pets are not allowed in most shelters, and pet owners are encouraged to locate a suitable shelter.

Residents are strongly encouraged to prepare a family disaster kit with a three-day supply of bottled water and non-perishable food per person, extra clothing and bedding, a flashlight, a NOAA weather radio, extra batteries, personal hygiene supplies, medicines, and extra cash. Cars should be fully fueled and packed.

In the event of an evacuation, please tune to your local public radio station for important evacuation information. A list of public radio stations in your area also can be found at Georgia Public Broadcasting.
